When you say young, ? what age, teens were not allowed to get jabbed until July 2021. By then many adults who were forced to get jabbed refused to allow kids to get it. Unfortunatley the govt then went behind parents backs suggesting kids didnt need parental permssion and bribing kids to get the jab with McDonalds lunches and pizzas. they also received a smaller dose

The Government has secured an extra half a million doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines from DENMARK that will start arriving in New Zealand within days.
This is the second and larger agreement the Government has entered into to purchase additional vaccines to meet the significantly increased demand through September before our large shipments land in October.
These doses along with the 275,000 doses purchased from SPAIN last week provide an additional 775,000 to New Zealand’s vaccine supplies.

The government has signed a purchase agreement with Pfizer for 4.7 million additional doses of the COVID-19 vaccine for delivery in 2022.
This purchase agreement will ensure that New Zealand has a continual supply of Pfizer vaccines throughout 2022.
These vaccines will be provided to those who didn’t access a vaccine in 2021 — for example, people turning 12 next year — be used if the eligibility is extended to younger age groups, and for a potential booster programme if the evidence determines this is required and if Medsafe grants approval.
New Zealand is also committed to supporting its Pacific neighbours with their COVID-19 response, including vaccine supply. (edited to add the govt dumped jabs that were expiring to the Pacific Islands that have connection with NZ)

Looked similar to USA, always knew there were teams around the world working together to rollour/ lockdown etc using the same date. EG health ministers in Europe and UK colluded to lockdown at the same time and Our govt overrode its own MEDSAFE advice on jabs etc as is now being seen through OIA ( official information Act releases)
One of the reasons that may explain the under representation of the young is that the rollout for under 12 years old did not start untill the 17 Jan 2022. The rollout across all ages was later in NZ than the rest of the world. I am also going to try to share a link to an article about NZ infant mortality in 2022, specifically the difference in totals between government public numbers and the numbers released by an official information request.
