Ok so the Eagle has a connection with Tio Esai, can’t you see the resemblance? lol
My connection with Esai is a stretch and it’s more like the 6 degrees to Kevin Bacon type of connection. Esai does have a connection to San Jose and it is Rosanna DeSoto of San Jose who played Ritchie Valens and half brother Bob Morales’ mother in the movie La Bamba.
Rosanna’s real last name is Soto not DeSoto, and she has younger siblings, a sister Gracie San Jose High School class of 68’, Joe Soto class of 69’, and younger or youngest brother Bobby Soto.
My Madre was friends with Gracie Soto and also class of 68’. Fast forward almost a decade to ~1978 and my Madre started attending the Golden Eagle Awards in Hollywood every year for a few years stretch. The Golden Eagle Awards was originally a Hispanic awards hosted by “Nosotros” and Nosotros was started by Ricardo Montalban, you can read about the Nosotros back story here: https://nosotrosorg.com/about/history/
The deep back story:
Not super important to the Esai connection, but my x-step daddy Dr. Albert Gomez who’s still a practicing physician here in San Jose was class of 67’ at Lincoln High School. After Berkeley and UC San Diego Gomez came back home to do a residency at Alexian Brothers (now San Jose Regional) and has practiced in San Jose ever since. Gomez told me about the old resident’s trick they all pull with their meals. When a resident knows the patient is going to die they order the a dinner or lunch right before they stop breathing. Needless to say they don’t want the meal to go to waste so…. free lunch!
Gomez was the nerdy saxophone player in the band and my Mom was the hot letter girl cheerleader. Gomez was even in the Berkeley band during his academic days. He said the very first time he ever tried alcohol was when he was with the band in Japan and it was sake, not even beer or tequila. They weren’t high school sweethearts because my mom was much to hot for him. They reconnected back at some old shin dig at the La Barron hotel ten years later and he was now a doctor, her a secretary.
I was born in Mexico City late 1969 which is a whole other story which does include the 68’ Olympics in Mexico City, but I will save that for another time. Needless to say pretty girls always seem to have interesting back stories.
Gomez is my sister Natalie’s dad and Gomez was a fun dude. Those were the lap of luxury days my mom caught in that era. I call it the matching Mercedes days. My mom was Gomez’s office manager for like 30 years even though she divorced Gomez and was remarried two more times! Women are crazy that way, I don’t know how they pull rabbits out of their hat like that?
So yeah Gomez started going to The Golden Eagle awards with my mom at the Beverly Wilshire and after the third or fourth year it was up to half a dozen couples of Hispanic movers and shakers making the annual pilgrimage to kick up the dust in Hollywood. When it was my turn to cycle through Gomez’s clinics, they were Meridian Medical of San Jose, San Francisco, Salinas, and Manteca. I gravitated to the medical billing and that’s how I got my start. I remember the first day, he said what do you want to do, do you want want to work in the front or the back? The Back meaning like a nurse giving injections, spinning blood, giving x-rays, or dipping litmus sticks into urine cups. As a doctor and under his license he could teach anybody how to give injections and draw blood or do x-rays, he was cool that way and he taught all his own people, nobody ever really had a official certificate from a nursing school especially, and some of so called “doctors” and PA’s were actually docs and from Mexico, Central and South America. All the billing went out under his UPIN number, but got a more formalized when UPIN’s changed to NPI’s. The National Provider Identifier was the first handcuff that shackled physician’s back around 2010-2011-2012 I want to say? Yeah I seen the physician get hog tied by the medical mafia cartel and part of it definitely started with the NPI.
Here is Gomez, my Madre, my sis with the Cameron’s at a Golden Eagle award and in her different stages. My Abuelita, aunt Aurora.
This back story is really the story of how The Eagle got prepared to audit VAERS today, but it does include Esai and even Ricardo Montalban, that’s how far I go! Don’t even get me started about the Salk Institute being in San Diego along with LabCorp’s operations. Hmmmm. Another story for another day. God Bless
Anyhow if your around Northern California on September 30th, come make history with us.
Thank you Albert for promoting our event with Esai Morales. It's going to be one incredibly fun event looking back to the start of lockdowns and getting to hear curated stories about what these thought leaders, including Esai Morales, knew that the general public didn't know! All set to live music played by an incredible band and led by lead singer and musical director Stephanie Rogers. Each of 5 storytellers will have an original song written by Steph played before and alongside their story!!
